The DND project page confirms the second Joint Support Ship under construction at Seaspan is officially the future HMCS Preserver, with its keel laid in October 2023 and full structural consolidation confirmed April 2026. As for whether the wartime Preserver in the article is the direct ancestor of that name, I haven't been able to confirm the lineage back that far from a primary source. What I can say is that the 2017 renaming tied back to the Cold War-era AOR vessels, so it's at least two generations of naval memory carrying that name forward.

It is heartening that RCN continues to honour its previous ship history, the same will apply to the new Rivers Class destroyers.
