Maybe... just maybe... Canada should stop the reshipping of steel etc from China? After all, reshipping is not just undercutting the American producers; it's also undercutting our producers.
If Mark Blarney wants to keep playing these political games, he should be required to move 100% of his investments into Canada (instead of having 91% in the USA) so his "eggs" are in the same basket with the rest of us.
I found that federal trade enforcement directly contradicts the premise that Canada facilitates the reshipping of Chinese steel. On October 22, 2024, Canada applied a 25 percent surtax on Chinese steel imports, followed on July 31, 2025, by surtaxes on steel melted and poured in China regardless of the country of export. Under CUSMA, exports to the United States also face strict melt-and-pour rules of origin to prevent offshore circumvention. The statutory framework is designed to shut down transshipment channels, not permit them.
Are you sorry that Donald Trump had no interest in an actual trade deal, instead looking to make Canada a subservient colony of MAGA America and that Mark Carney recognized it and refused to allow it? Doesn't paying people's wages and training for jobs that may exist many years from now or perhaps not at all bother you?

Sorry we screwed up trade talks with the USA where a lot of Canadian steel goes.
Jobs are being lost but we will retrain you as long as you wind up somewhere that is compliant with net-zero.
