PRIVATE citizens should have an expectation of privacy in all of their doings. In those exceptional situations where gubbermint wishes to interfere with that privacy, there should be legal justification (a search warrant), notification and limitation.
Gubbermints are PUBLIC servants and should have an expectation of complete transparency in all of their doings. In those exceptional situations where privacy is necessary, there should be legal justification (classification), notification and limitation.
The FACT our gubbermints are building legal and technological systems to strip privacy from private citizens at the same time as they're over-using security classification to hide their daily activities tells us that our society is at risk of authoritarian, potentially totalitarian takeover.
